Baked Beans, But Make It Meaty

M: You don't like baked beans. Why are you making them?

B: Because sometimes I need to be reminded why I don't like them.

M: Well, will you at least cook them in one of the Staub pots so that it looks nice for TikTok?

B: Absolutely not. I am going to bake them in an aluminum tray, as required by the barbeque gods.

(P.S. Even though I, generally, dislike baked beans, this recipe is pretty good. They're not overly saucy, which is one of the things that gross me out. Also, bacon.)

1 lb lean ground beef

4 slices bacon, chopped

1 small onion, chopped

1/2 cup barbecue sauce (I used Sweet Baby Ray's Original)

1/4 cup light brown sugar, lightly packed

1/4 cup molasses

1 TB yellow mustard

1 TB Worcestershire sauce

1/4 tsp chili powder

1 16 oz can kidney beans, drained

1 16 oz can cannellini beans, drained

1 16 oz can great northern beans, drained

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Brown the ground beef, bacon, and onions in a large sauté pan until the meat is cooked, about 10 minutes.

Add rest of the ingredients and mix well.

Transfer to a 13x9 aluminum pan so as to not anger the gods. (You can also just cook and bake everything in a Dutch oven with lid, but don't come crying to me when your village is plagued by locusts.)

Cover with foil and bake for an hour.
